Entry 15: Mud

Day 36

Travis is stuck by lightning again on the way home from grilling some fish. I’m starting to think he’s a sim lightning rod.

He has less than two hours before work to sort himself out and he’s up for a promotion today. This, we do not need.

He still manages to get promoted to Sous Chef, but comes home extremely tense…

And promptly slips in mud. He’s had a rough few days.

On top of all this, work wants him to start his new position TODAY. He has to accept, because they’ll fire him otherwise and we really need a fridge in this house pronto.

He falls over in mud again on the way out.

Day 37

12-09-18_3-54-30 PM

Turns out there is a short-term daycare service that can look after kids if both parents have to go to work. I don’t know how they know when kids need help, but I’ll accept it since my job performance did slip a little when I stayed home to look after the kids. I guess my professional slacker trait protects me from being demoted or fired, not from losing performance.

On my way out, I fall over in the same mud that’s claimed Charles twice. I already felt bad enough with whatever illness I’ve contracted. Charles has been coughing a bit, too. I guess we’re stuck since we don’t have access to medicine and naps are a luxury.

On the positive side, all three kids have their birthdays today. Prosper goes first as the eldest twin. He’s a silly toddler.

Then it’s Journey’s turn. She’s a little wild child and the only one to inherit my hair.

There are a chaotic few hours where there are three toddlers in the house. I find myself feeling grateful that Venture turned out to be a single birth after all.

Day 38

12-09-18_5-55-18 PM

We can’t make a cake for Venture, so he ages up 24 hours after his birthday notice into a boy who loves the outdoors and wants to be a whiz kid. He was a Top-Notch Toddler, despite the fact we often had to leave him to his own devices. Charles and I are both pretty smart, but I know he definitely takes after me when it comes to being outdoorsy.

The biggest relief for Charles and me is the fact we don’t have three toddlers in the house anymore. The biggest relief for Venture is the fact he can finally take care of his hygiene a little better.
