Day 48

It seems Prosper has made an imaginary friend. He swears the monster under the bed is real. Charles and I just go with it, after making sure he hadn’t drunk any contaminated water recently.
But no. He just has an active imagination… though he did seem quite interested in the water situation when we questioned him whether he’d drunk anything.
Prosper had this picture taken. Charles and I can’t see any tentacles when he tries to show us, so I don’t know what’s going on.
As long as he’s safe, I guess.
Day 51

This winter is much different from the last. We haven’t had to struggle through snow for food, freezing our fingers off to cook old fish. No more tolerating spoiled food just to make our supplies stretch a little further.
Not to mention having a young child to care for. Now they’re all old enough to take care of themselves as long as we leave some food in the fridge.
It’s amazing how much time having a proper fridge and stove in the house gives you.

The kids practice giving compliments to each other in the morning over Monday morning’s breakfast. All three have finished learning basic social skills and have started on charisma. If the boys are set on their career choices, they’ll need plenty of that.
Venture is still set on journalism, and Prosper is still expressing interest in finding a safe workaround to allow us to drink water and other liquids again, especially after we told him that I probably would have lost my job if not for my professional slacker trait because I had to stay home to feed the kids as babies. Baby formula was not an option.
I’m not sure what Journey wants to do yet, but she has expressed some dismay with the fact we have to wait until Sunday to buy anything or replace broken items, and can’t find new clothes anywhere… barring the mysterious bear costume that has disappeared once again.

The three of them seem to do everything together these days. Some part of me hopes that never changes.
Funnily, though, Journey seems to have bonded the most with her older brother Venture, instead of her twin Prosper. They all get along, of course, but they seem the closest. Maybe it’s because Venture had already completed his childhood aspiration to be a Whiz Kid by the time the other two came along, so he had more time for his siblings. Journey has already finished her Artistic Prodigy aspiration, meaning she also has more time, while Prosper is taking a little longer to become a Whiz Kid. I imagine he’ll get there tomorrow because he’s so close to receiving an A report card.
